A.V. Black is an emerging Canadian author who writes fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. Her stories are equal parts character-driven drama, gritty struggles, and dark humour. Her short fiction has earned recognition, including a runner-up prize in the Reedsy Prompts Writing Competition. Her upcoming short story, The Referral, will appear in Choices: An Anthology of Reproductive Horror and draws from her experiences as a woman in Canada’s strained medical system. A lifelong gamer and storyteller, her lighter work is inspired by late-night raid banter, unpredictable travel adventures, and the books that kept her up past midnight as a kid. When she isn’t writing, she’s usually planning her next trip, leveling up a character, or chasing down an intriguing “what if.”
